High Cholesterol

If you have High Cholesterol, the CMO Care Team can help.
What most people call High Cholesterol is a chronic condition called hyperlipidemia. Hyperlipidemia means that your blood has higher level of lipids (fats), including cholesterol and triglycerides. Most people with hyperlipidemia have no symptoms. However, hyperlipidemia can increase your risk of coronary heart disease (CHD), a thickening or hardening of the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. CHD can result in chest pain or a heart attack, or both. The good news is that lipid levels can be lowered with a combination of diet, weight loss, exercise, and medications. As lipid levels fall, so does the risk of developing CHD, as well as the risk of suffering a stroke. For patients with CHD, lowering lipid levels can also be lifesaving.
