Depression

If you suffer from depression, the CMO Care Team can help.

About one in 10 Americans suffers some form of depression, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. Women experience depression twice as often as men. Depression is not the same as a passing "blue mood." Depression affects the way you eat and sleep, the way you feel about yourself, and the way you think about things. People with a depressive illness cannot merely "snap out of it" and get better. Without treatment, symptoms can last for weeks, months, or years. Appropriate treatment, however, can help most people who suffer from depression.

Working with your doctor, our CMO Nurse Care Manager can:

  • Help assess your physical health
  • Provide you with information about depression
  • Help you find a mental healthcare provider
  • Explain medication and treatment options
  • Follow-up after you come home from the hospital
  • Tell you about support groups
