Health Promotion
According to the American Journal of Health Promotion, health promotion is defined as the science and art of helping people change their lifestyle to move toward a state of optimal health. At CMO, our vision is to positively impact the physical, emotional, social and spiritual health of our members by providing health promotion services that maximize health and fitness, and enhance the lives of our patients.
CMO Health Promotions will serve to promote lifestyle changes through a combination of programs that enhance awareness, alter behavior and create environments that support good health practices. Our programs will help individuals exercise more control over their own health and help them make choices that create a healthier lifestyle.
Through our programs, members can learn and prepare themselves for all stages of life - whether it is coping with physical issues such as chronic illness, injuries or aging; coping with emotional situations like stress and loss, or handling social services needs like depression in the family or a parent with Alzheimer's.
Today, CMO's care management and disease management programs promote health screening - Paps, mammograms, colonoscopies, etc. - and encourage healthy lifestyles around diet and exercise.
At CMO, we believe that the role of health promotion in healthcare management is a responsibility shared by individuals, health professionals, health service institutions, community groups and government.
We are committed to developing health promotion programs that:
Prevent and control chronic illness
Maintain or improve the physical and mental well-being of our members
Reduce the medical, social and economic consequences of the leading causes of disability and death
